Getting Outdoors Can Calm Your Baby

July 18, 2018

Despite the best advice by well meaning people around you, you may want to reconsider keeping your baby confined to indoors.  While this may be helpful to get organisation into the household, research shows a different view.

Lack of stimulation in babies has been found to increase the sympathetic nervous system response and contribute to a more fretful and unsettled baby.  Diverse sensations such as a walk outside, incorporating movement and the rich diversity of colour and sound from their surroundings is said to help calm baby's nervous system and add greatly to their ability, later in life, to take in all the diverse experiences of the world.

Next time you feel guilty about being out all day with baby, remember that you are adding to your baby's input of sights and sounds and calming their nervous system.
